After a long pause, I am back. I’ve not had a chance to sit down and write for an extended period of time recently, so a few posts will most probably be coming in fairly quick succession.
First, a bit of must-do reading; Contagious’ Most Contagious 2010 summary is fantastic. It covers areas from TV and viral (which, like me, they dislike as a phrase to describe the sharing of content – see Bud Caddell’s Stop Saying Viral Video article for a full and insightful explanation) to Design and Demos.
Some highlights:
Nike’s ‘Write the Future’ campaign gets a couple of mentions, firstly for its ad featuring, amongst others, England’s Wayne Rooney, Portugal’s Christano Ronaldo and France’s Frank Ribery, and also for its interactive/experiential work in Johannesburg. For this, Nike took over Jo’burgs landmark skyscraper The Life Centre, covered it in LED screens and invited fans on social networks Facebook, Twitter, QQ and MXit to pick a Nike-sponsored player they wanted displayed on the building and to submit an accompanying message of encouragement, which was displayed alongside it. Each contributor received a photo of their contribution.
Jay-Z’s work with Bing to launch his Decoded memoirs (see below post).
Dulux’s ‘Let’s Colour Project’, which involved Dulux employees, agency representatives and bloggers reinvigorating forlorn buildings, streets and squares with a coat of paint. The culmination was a montage-style ad showing a time lapse of the work
Puma’s clever little bag. Designed by Yves Behar, it’s a shoebox/canvas bag hybrid which claims that, manually, it will save more than 60% of paper and water normally used by the company.
This is just a small selection. There’s also reams of stuff on Old Spice and Arcade Fire’s work with Google Chrome, as well as great synopses of iPad, Kindle, Apple and Google TV...
