Unfortunately, blogger does not have the capacity to re-blog posts of others in the same way tumblr does. However, I wanted to share the 2 below links.
The first is the headstone of Factory Records co-founder, nightclub owner and all round "cultural catalyst" Tony Wilson. Helping discover the Happy Monday's and New Order (neƩ Joy Division), Wilson was not universally liked, but his legacy is unquestionable. Designed by Factory Records cohort Peter Saville and Ben Kelly, this is rather morbid, but pretty damn unique.
The second is more upbeat. Clay Parker Jones and Alexander Chung of New York-based Undercurrent recently gave a presentation at the Web 2.0 Expo called Size Does Matter. Clay's blog sums it up far better than I care to try, but the basic idea is that as a result of the digital age, people are more easily able to form smaller, harder to find groups (small echoes of Chris Anderson’s Long Tail). Using examples that include religion, biology and Fiji, Clay and Alex demonstrate that a focus on smallness is the way to go when developing and creating marketing ideas. They also use the video for Radiohead’s Karma Police as a metaphor for the internet, which I have a lot of time for.
