Notes on Parking my Bicycle

Bike Run H2's CCTV-covered bike parking
Secure bicycle parking is something that's difficult to come by in Central London and sometimes the robust frame of a road-side fence or the supportive upright cylinder of a lamppost just won't suffice. The people of Bike Run H2 in Soho have recognised and are in the process of capitalising this need-come-worry, following it (all the way) to its logical conclusion. Varied membership packages not only offer a space for your bike and a shower for you, but it also specialises in cycling fitness through its cycle-led fitness equipment and more spin classes than you can shake a pair of Lycra shorts at. As if that's not enough, they also offer a bike repair and maintenance service and will even sort your dry cleaning out for you. It's not for everyone, but it's a wonderful example of focus and specialism.

Regardless of all of its bells and whistles, however, I'd be happy with a big Tokyo-esque underground bike shed. This feat of technology, engineering and space-saving parks over 9,000 securely by packing them in tightly and issuing you with a card. Swipe this when you return to pick it up and it will return your bike in 23 seconds. How cool is that?

Update: Since writing this - the day after in fact - my bike was stolen. Oh cruel fate.
